Frequently asked question
- I've had a mortgage valuation so do I need a survey? A mortgage valuation is for the benefit of the lender while a survey is for your benefit. A RICS Home Survey will highlight potential problems and getting one done can help you avoid the average £5,750 repair bill that homebuyers face once they have moved into their new home.
- How much does a survey cost? The cost of the survey will vary depending on the type of survey you instruct, as well as the age, type and location of the property. Prices start from as little as £350 inclusive of VAT.
- How long will I need to wait for my survey? Our aim is to provide you with your survey as quickly as possible. Production times may vary depending on the size and complexity of the property and access arrangements but we would usually issue a Home Buyers report within 2-3 days after the inspection. Building surveys, being more detailed, take slightly longer to produce, usually 5-7 days.
- Can I chat with the surveyor after the survey? Absolutely, in fact we encourage this. After we have undertaken your survey we will call you within 24 hours to talk through our main findings and give you verbal feedback. We also offer you the chance to discuss the survey further after you have received the final version.
- Do you carry insurance? We have Professional Indemnity Insurance in accordance with the RICS guidelines and Public Liability Insurance up to £1,000,000.
